Public agrometeorology talks in February

There are two public talks this month directly related to agricultural meteorology, both of which to be given by Met Éireann’s Agricultural Meteorologist, Keith Lambkin. The first is the Teagasc Tillage Crop Seminar, to be held in the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co. Offaly on Tuesday 13th February 2018 starting at 7:30pm. Here Keith will review the difficult season tillage farmers have experienced and will look to the future to see how the recent season is related to predicted climate trends.

The second talk, entitled ‘Agricultural Meteorology in Ireland’, is an Irish Meteorological Society public lecture to be held in The Custom House, Dublin 1 on Thursday 22nd February 2018 at 6pm. Keith will talk about the history of agrometeorology in Ireland and the evolution of the ‘Agmet Group’. A snapshot of current agrometeorological products and services will be highlighted as well as a summary of Irish agro-met research. Further details are available at the Irish Meteorological Society website. All welcome.
